Clown loach health

Poor water quality is one of the most common reasons behind bad health in Clown Loaches. When the water in an aquarium goes bad, the Clown Loach is often the first fish to succumb. The health of your Clown Loaches will therefore be a good indication of the overall conditions of the aquarium. Because of this, Clown Loaches are sometimes called indicator fish.

The best way of keeping your Clown Loach healthy is to keep the water quality up. Perform 25% water changes at least once a week. Also keep in mind that the Clown Loach is extremely sensitive to chlorine, and can die even from very small amounts of chlorine in the water.

If the water quality drops, the Clown Loach will die or become ill. Unfortunately the Clown Loach is sensitive to most ick medications and salts, and is just as likely to die from the treatment as from the illness. You can lower the risk of side effects by using no more than half the recommended amount of medicine when treating Clown Loaches.
