Clown Loach is a carnivore fish, but it will also eat some vegetables to supplement its diet. Feed your Clown Loach a varied diet to make sure it gets all necessary nutrients. Shrimps, frozen foods and sinking wafers are a good base. Also add some vegetable foods to make the diet similar to what the Clown Loach would eat in the wild. When the Clown Loach grows older, it will appreciate sliced fish.
Ideally feed your Clown Loach 3-5 times a day, to get the fish to grow. Even with optimal feeding habits, the Clown Loach is a slow growing fish.
Clown Loach will happily eat snails in the aquarium, and is therefore a helpful aid when it comes to snail control.
You will soon notice what your Clown Loaches favourite food is, since the fish will produce a clicking sound when it eats this food. A clicking sound from a Clown Loach means that the fish is content. The Clown Loach can be reluctant to try new food, but will usually be convinced sooner or later if you persist. Sometimes the formerly shunned food will turn out to be a favourite.
